Family Ministries

Tracey Crawley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Kent State University in Ohio and still practices nursing for Riverside Foundation. She completed her Master's degree in counseling at Albertson's College of Idaho and post-graduate studies in counseling at Old Dominion University

Tracey has been active in church ministry for 20 years. She serves at West Hampton Baptist Church as director of the Marriage and Family Ministry. Along with her husband, she offers pre-marriage and marriage enrichment seminars to support the Peninsula Community Marriage Covenant, which was initiated in 1997 by the Peninsula Pastoral Counseling Center and other local churches. The Programs they offer may be tailored for group presentation or individual and couple particpation. You are warmly invited to attend one of these exciting marriage enrichment events.

Specialized Programs and Offerings

    1. Mentor Program
    Mentor couples are experienced couples with a strong marriage who want to invest themselves in the success of newlywed couples. they form a relationship with the premarital or newlwed couple for the duration of the first year of marriage. We use materials from the Center for Relationship Development. West Hampton couples who want a mentor couple or married couples who want to mentor youg couples should contact the church office.

    2. Premarital Counseling
    Premarital counseling is required for all couples getting married at West Hampton or by the pastors at West Hampton. This requirement supports the Peninsula Community Marriage Covenant for the purpose of strengthening marriages and preventing diviorce. The counseling consits of couples taking the Prepare Premarital Inventory The couple is then assigned to a counselor or mentor couple for a minimum of 3 feedback sessions plus a session with the senior or marrying pastor.

    3. Wedding Planner Booklet
    A booklet is available at the church office with full details of how to plan your wedding at West Hampton. It includes all fees and suggested honorariums plus how to arrange for sound, music, and use of the fellowship hall. We also have caterers available. Please be certain to schedule and plan your wedding at least six months prior to allow for your counseling and all the other details.

    4. Specialized Classes
    Special classes are offered through out the year and will be posted on this site. Please contact the church office to express interest inSaving Your Marriage Before It Starts; Writing A Family Mission Statement; HomeBuilder Series. These and other classes are offeres by request.

    5. Counseling
    Confidential counseling is available upon request for church members and as space is available for others. We will gladly assist you with community resources and referrals. Emergency assistance and referral is available 24 hours a day through Ask-A-Nurse, (757) 595-6363. Contact Peninsula is a 24 hour counseling and information referral, (757) 245-0041.

Healthy Families Partnership
West Hampton's Youth Building

West Hampton offers parenting classes through our partnership with Hampton's Healthy Families. All programs begin with a free dinner for the family at 5:30 p.m. Classes are 6:00-8:00 p.m. and include care for all ages of children.

Anger Management. Starting Monday April 16, 2001. Facilitators from the Center for Children and Family Services will be teaching their anger management program called PATTS; "Peacefull Alternatives To Tough Situations". Call Healthy Families, 727-1300 to register. Call early, the classes filled up quickly last time this was offered.

Nurturing Children. Beginning Tuesday May 1, - July 17, 2001. You probably thought life would get easier as your children got older. But the challenges seem to grow right along with the children. This 12-session, family-centered program will help you deal effectively with new issues that continue to surface and show you the best way to create family rules, encourage the development of appropriate behavior and manage stress, that constant companion of most parents.Call Healthy Families, 727-1300 to register.
